Communication tools have been plotted across a one-year time period to help support your employees in working their way through the stages of making a behavior change—from recognizing a problem behavior and preparing to end tobacco use to quitting tobacco use and, finally, to maintaining a tobacco-free lifestyle. The campaign kicks off with awareness of nicotine addiction—the causes and understanding of why people use tobacco—prompting employees and employers to prepare to change their work environments and lifestyles. The campaign continues to help employees commit to quitting by identifying the stages of change process, goal setting and persevering throughout the year. Monthly themes tie in with national observances as appropriate for relevancy and additional momentum. Use this as a starting point to design a communication implementation plan for your workforce.

“Quittin’ Time: Helping Employees Become Tobacco-free” is one in a series of prevention initiatives developed by ValueOptions.
