Drinking Can Get You in Trouble With the Law

You may think that having an occasional drink with friends and then driving home is harmless. But too often this is not the case. Each year, about 16,000 Americans die and more than 2 million suffer injuries from alcohol-related traffic accidents. About 40 percent of the general population (two in every five drivers) will at some time be involved in an alcohol-related accident. Alcohol is also increasingly recognized as a factor in many boating fatalities.

Studies have shown that alcohol adversely affects the skills needed to safely drive a motor vehicle. Drinking and driving can lead to trouble with the law such as being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

If you or a loved one has a problem with alcohol, get help before it’s too late. Your employee assistance program (EAP) is a good place to start. By calling (insert 800#) you can speak confidentially to a counselor who can offer assistance in helping you overcome your problems with alcohol or any legal matters you may have.
