The ValueOptions North Carolina Service Center (NCSC) in Research Triangle Park has been part of the mental health and substance abuse services delivery system in North Carolina since 1992.

State Health Plan PPO

Beginning in October 2006, ValueOptions has responsibility to provide utilization review services for the State Health Plan PPO to determine if treatment is medically necessary. ValueOptions will authorize admission and concurrent stays for all mental health and substance abuse admissions for inpatient, substance abuse residential treatment centers, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient/structured outpatient treatment programs.

Clinical Criteria

    Medical Necessity determinations are made in accordance with the American Society for Addiction Medicine Criteria.
