Florida Health Partners Implements Health Education Answers Program to Promote Integrated Care
Tampa, Florida — February 22, 2005
Florida Health Partners (FHP) today announced a new Web site feature available to Florida Medicaid members to reinforce efforts to integrate patients' physical and behavioral health care services. The new feature uses evidence-based practices to provide wellness and disease management education modules for members.
The feature provides a link to the Health Education Answers Web site that is a part of Eli Lilly and Company's (NYSE: LLY) patient education program. This site presents physical health and mental health education materials in an interactive, entertaining and easy-to-use format.
The site contains information on a range of topics, including:
- Wellness – how to manage stress, prevent safety hazards, stop smoking and avoid substance abuse.
- ADHD – information on diagnosis, treatment, living with ADHD and family issues.
- Bipolar Disorder – insight on symptoms and treatment.
- Depression – how tracking depression can impact other health conditions and how to manage its impact on relationships and the workplace.
- Diabetes – how early detection and proper treatment may prevent problems, including nutrition information, testing, and exercise recommendations.
- Schizophrenia – understanding how symptoms affect your ability to function and seeking support from others.
- Women's Health – specific information on osteoporosis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, and stress urinary incontinence.
Each module includes interactive information for patients and their families to encourage members to take an active role in their care and treatment. Engaging and informational, the site appeals to those with even limited computer skills.
Dr. J. David Moore, medical director, Florida Health Partners, said "The program addresses our commitment to integrated mental and physical health care for our Medicaid programs. We are pleased that Lilly has provided us with the opportunity to access this site, and we feel it will be a great resource for our members."
